Doctor’s Best High Absorption CoQ10

Falling just short of our recommended choice is Doctor’s Best High Absorption CoQ10. These pills claim to be easily absorbed to support heart health and cellular energy. We liked that this product contains pure CoQ10 as well as BioPerine^® to increase the absorption of the CoQ10 in the body. We also liked that this product is sourced from Ubiquinone and quite affordable. At first glance, this product seems similar to our editor’s choice, however, there are 3 ways in which the ingredients here don’t quite reach that level. They are: the dosage of ingredients, the exclusion of MCT oil and the inclusion of gelatin.

The first doubt we had with this product is the dosage of both CoQ10 and BioPerine^®. With only 100 mg of CoQ10 and 5 mg of BioPerine^®, we wonder how effective this product could be. It was certainly lower than we expected to see.

This second doubt springs from the exclusion of MCT oil. CoQ10 is lipid-soluble, which means it only dissolves in other fats, and not in water. Therefore, your body cannot absorb it and use it properly unless it is taken with a healthy fat such as MCT oil. There is a question at how effectively CoQ10 will be used in the body when this is absent.

Our third doubt was that this product contains gelatin and is therefore not vegan friendly. Many manufacturers are producing vegan-friendly supplements so as to appeal to a wider customer base as well as to ensure that all ingredients are both naturally and ethically sourced. 

We found that this product had many reviews, and while many were positive, there were negative reviews that reduced its score. There were a lot of inconsistencies between bottles that people received. Some were fine and others had pills that were clumped and stuck together. If you can’t ensure each bottle will be identical, then it is unlikely you will want to re-order.

Nature’s Way CoQ10 is a dietary supplement that contains coenzymeQ10, also known as CoQ10, sourced from Ubiquinone. This product claims to support energy production and cardiovascular health. This formula contains 2 additional active ingredients which are Vitamin A and Vitamin E which are shown to have strong antioxidant properties. While these are solid ingredients, the dosage of CoQ10 is quite low for a CoQ10 product.   

Another glaring omission we noticed was the lack of BioPerine^®. BioPerine^® is proven in studies to increase the bioavailability of CoQ10 by 30%. Because it boosts the effects of CoQ10, we would expect that it would be included in this formula. We would have at least expected the inclusion of a fat such as MCT oil as CoQ10 is fat-soluble and necessitates a being dissolved into fat for proper functioning in the body.

Furthermore, there are also many ingredients included in the formula that fall under the category of unnecessary, fillers, binders, additives, preservatives etc. This list of ‘Other Ingredients’ on the label is longer than the list of active ingredients. While this doesn’t necessarily mean the product won’t work, if you are looking for a premium CoQ10 supplement you should be spending your money on quality ingredients, not on added extras.

Since the company itself has a good track record we still consider this to be a solid product. Just remember that it has a few slight disadvantages.
